Ernest M. Rosiere
Ernest M. Rosiere, 85, died Sunday
(April 8, 2001) at Halstead Hospital.
He was born Oct. 22, 1915, to Paul
Eugene and Julia Louise (Lespagnard) Rosiere in Marion County. They
preceded him in death. He married Florence W. Kater Oct. 16, 1949, at
the Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church in Newton. She survives.
He was a member of Salem United
Methodist Church, Newton Masonic Lodge No. 142 where he received his
25 years pin, the Order of the Eastern Star No. 5 of Newton, and a
former member of the Scottish Rite Consistory 32 degree, Midian
Shrine, Temple and Kansas York Rite, Ark Valley Chapter No. 27. He
also was a member of the American Legion Wayne G. Austin Post No. 2
of Newton. He received his 50 year pin from the American Legion. He
farmed for nearly 17 years on his land north of Newton. He served in
the Cavalry during World War II. He also served the Newton and
Florence communities for many years in funeral service, working at
both the Draper and Petersen funeral homes.
Other survivors include: a daughter and
son-in-law, Diana and Steve Gomez of Newton; a sister, Evelyn Deines
of Marion; a grandson, Christopher Gomez of Newton; and a
granddaughter, Stephanie Gomez of Newton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family greeting
friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday
at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Kent Rogers
officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Salem United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
