Rita Ann Kemph
1939 - 2015 Obituary
Rita Ann Kemph, 76, died Thursday,
September 24, 2015 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas. She was
born May 10, 1939 in Newton, Kansas to Francis and Ruby (Stryker)
Grochowsky. On March 1, 1960 she married Cecil W. Kemph at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Newton and he survives of the home. Rita attended
both Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Mary's Catholic Churches in
Newton. She was a retired Registered Nurse at the former Halstead
Hospital and later worked as the head nurse at Friendly Acres now
Asbury Park in Newton. Rita enjoyed her career in nursing and
mentoring new nurses and providing excellent care for her patients.
She had a soft spot in her heart for dogs and loved to rescue and
care for her beloved pets. Her greatest joy in life however was her
family. She enjoyed keeping up with her children and grandchildren
and greatly looked forward to their visits. Camping and fishing were
a favorite past time she enjoyed with her family. Rita was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many and
her caring spirit will live on through her many thoughtful deeds and
actions.
She is survived by her husband of 55
years Cecil W. Kemph of the home; son Steve Kemph of Phoenix, AZ;
daughter Susan Rikoff of Port Arthur, TX; brother Robert Grochowsky
of Topeka, KS. 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her
parents.
A celebration of life service will be
2:00 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2015 at Petersen Funeral Home
Chapel.
