LuJean Graybill
HOLTON - LuJean Graybill, 67, of Maui,
Hawaii, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2007) at her daughter's home west of
Holton, where she had moved recently so her daughters could care for
her as she battled cancer.
She was born Dec. 4, 1940, at
Hutchinson, the daughter of Lewis M. and Rachel J. Giggy Short. She
graduated from Burrton High School in 1958.
LuJean worked for the Santa Fe Railroad
in Newton, and later worked for United Airlines for 25 years out of
the Great Lakes Navy Base, Chicago O'Hare Airport and retired from
United at the Maui International Airport as a service director.
She attended the Episcopal church in
Kihei, Hawaii, and was a member of the International Association of
Machinists & Aerospace Workers and the High Hope Square Dancers
in Maui.
Survivors include two daughters, D.
Michelle Zeller of Holton and Kimberly Jane Graybill of Kapaau,
Hawaii; one son, Dean Eshom and wife, Linda, of Topeka; three
brothers, Jerry Short and wife, Barb, of Bennington, Allen Short and
wife, Teresa, of Hutchinson, and Phil Short and his significant
other, Annie, of Burrton; and five grandsons, Chris Eshom, Anthony
Terrian, David Heideman, and Cooper and Parker Zeller.
She was preceded in death by a brother,
Larry Short.
Cremation is planned.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m.
Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Holton.
LuJean's wishes were that her cremated
remains be scattered on the family farm north of Burrton. Memorials
are suggested to the Holton Community Hospital Hospice, and may be
sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, KS
66436.
