Obituary

Margaret Dyck, 95, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Margaret was born to Roy and Carrie (Newcom) Haley and graduated as the 1937 valedictorian from Benton High School.

She was active in Christian Women's Club of Newton, and children's ministries, including AWANA, at Swiss Church in Whitewater. She and her husband Art Dyck, were long time farmers in northwest Butler County. Following their retirement from farming they moved to North Newton, where she worked as assistant Harvey County Treasurer full time until 1988, and assisted occasionally after that during busy tax collection season. She most recently lived in Wichita, with her daughter and son-in-law, Ron and Eileen Benton, and was cared for by grandson, Randy Benton and wife Denice, who survive.

Other survivors include daughter, Carolyn and husband Jerry Flaming of Rockford, Illinois; grandsons: Rob Benton and wife Lynda of Flemington, New Jersey; Brent Flaming and wife Peggy, and Chad Flaming all of Rockford, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Visitation with family will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, at Swiss Life Center, Whitewater. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Swiss Church, Whitewater. Private burial will be in the Swiss Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established for Ponca Bible Camp or Gentiva Hospice in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.
