Anna Wahl Bergen
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Anna Wahl Bergen,
95, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday (Dec. 8, 2007) at St.
Joseph's Nursing Center.
She was born July 13, 1912, in Beaver,
Okla., the third child of Edward and Hulda Bartel Wahl.
She married Theodore Bergen on Oct. 11,
1936, in Balko, Okla. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2002.
Anna lived on a farm in the Oklahoma
Panhandle until her marriage to Theodore. They moved to a farm near
Anna's parents and lived there until they retired in 1976. They lived
the next 17 years in Newton before moving to Jefferson City in 1992.
Anna attended elementary school at
Bethany and graduated from Balko High School. She worked as a cook
for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. until she married. After her
marriage, she was a homemaker and helped her husband and sons farm
and operate a dairy.
Anna and Theodore were volunteer winter
workers at Rio Grande Bible Institute for 25 years. Anna was an
excellent quilter and bread maker.
Anna was baptized on June 23, 1929, by
the Rev. P.D. Koehn. She joined the Balko Mennonite Brethren Church
where she remained an active member until moving to Newton, where she
joined the Koerner Heights Mennonite Church, where her membership
remains today.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd
Bergen, and wife, Susan, of Norman, Okla., and Verlyn Bergen and
wife, Karen, of Jefferson City; six grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, Edward and Hulda Wahl; a brother, Fred Wahl; and a sister,
Leona Neufeld.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m.
Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Restlawn Garden of
Memories Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions can be made to
the Rio Grande Bible Institute in care of the funeral home.
