Cornelius H. "Curt" Janzen, 95, passed away Thursday (Dec. 20, 2007) at Newton Presbyterian Manor.
He was born July 5, 1912, in Marion County to Cornelius K. and Sarah (Hiebert) Janzen.
On July 23, 1933, he married Katherine Flaming in Goessel. She preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 1993.
He was a longtime Newton resident and worked for 26 years as a propane truck driver for the Co-op. He was a member of Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren in Newton. He enjoyed bowling with his many friends throughout the years and greatly looked forward to spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include daughter Frieda and Don Quiring of Newton; son Arlo and Maxine Janzen of Hesston; brother Elmer Janzen of Wichita; brother Adolf Janzen of Enid, Okla.; brother Walter Janzen of Newton; brother Edwin Janzen of North Newton; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; son, Clarence Janzen; daughter, Lillian Carmen; brothers Art and Abe Janzen; and sister Lydia Flaming.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with family present from 3 to 5 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Koerner Heights Mennonite Brethren Church, with Pastor Tim Mace officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
