Dana M. Janzen, 50, died Friday (Nov. 24, 2006) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born April 1, 1956, in Newton to Willard and Mary (Matthies) Janzen. He grew up in the Newton community and attended Newton schools. He was a member of the class of 1974. On Oct. 2, 1982, he married Julie Fields in Newton. She survives. Their daughter, Ashley, was born July 19, 1983.
He was employed at Bunting Magnetics for 26 years and currently was employed at Gainey Transportation. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, spending time with his daughter and friends and playing with his dogs, Stella and Chica. Dana was full of fun and laughter, and he will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
His father, Willard Janzen, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley; his mother, Mary Janzen of Newton; a brother, Doyle (Sandy) Janzen of Tehachapi, Calif.; nephew Ross Janzen of Tehachapi; niece Sami Janzen of Tehachapi; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church in Newton. There will be a private family internment.
Public book signing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Harvey County Humane Society or the Endangered Species Association, both in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
