Marie H. Friesen
GOESSEL -- Marie H. Friesen, 98,
formerly of Newton, school teacher and lab technician, died Friday
(Aug. 11, 2000) at Bethesda Home in Goessel. She was born Oct. 19,
1901, in Goessel to Peter P. and Anna (Suderman) Janzen. She married
Carl Nath Dec. 15, 1946, in Wichita. He preceded her in death Oct.
15, 1964. She married C.B. Friesen Nov. 8, 1980. He also preceded her
in death Oct. 3, 1994. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in
Newton. She attended elementary school in Goessel, Newton High School
and Bethel College. She graduated from Kansas State Teachers College
in Emporia and taught school in Butler County for several years.
She lived in Los Angeles and attended
Bible Institute. She moved back to the Newton area and graduated from
School of Medical Technology at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita,
where she worked for many years.
Survivors include: two step sons, Karl
Friesen of Newton and Ronald Friesen of Loveland Co.; two step
daughters, Luanna Voth of Newton and Noreen Nath of Wichita; 14 step
grandchildren; and many step great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by five
brothers, Henry Janzen, John M Janzen, Herman S Janzen, Daniel E
Jansen, and Walter S Jansen.
Funeral services will be 10 a. m.
Tuesday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with the Revs. Verney
Unruh and Wally Jantz officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p. m. Today
with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 9 p. m. at Petersen Funeral
Home.
