Obituary
Julia Pina, 88, of Newton, died Friday
(Jan. 1, 2016) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Via Christi
Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born on June 28, 1927 in
Newton, the daughter of Antonio and Irene Pedrosa Gomez. Julia was a
lifelong resident of Newton. She married Lee Pina on September 11,
1947 in Newton, he died on November 18, 2005.
Julia was a lifelong member of Our Lady
of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a member of the Madero Society.
Spending time with her children and grandchildren was very important
to her. The holiday was always a joyous time of the year.
Survivors include her son Tom Pina and
his wife Kimberly of Amarillo, Texas.; daughter Theresa Estrada and
husband Stan of Newton; brother Ralph Gomez of Hutchinson ; sister
Maggie Gomez of Newton; eight grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Pina is preceded in death by her
parents; husband; daughter Rosalee Lindsay; grandson Jarrod Michael
Pina; brothers Lou, George, John, and Tony Gomez; and sister Nancy
Oropeza.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be
said at 9:30 a.m., Thursday (Jan. 7, 2016) followed by the Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic
Church in Newton. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with
the building fund of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church,
contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E.
Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
There will be no visitation or viewing
as cremation has been effected.
