Obituary: Norman Stauffer
KS_Newton — Norman Stauffer, 78,
died at his home on Friday, May 17, 2013.
Norman was born on April 4, 1935, to
Edward and Opel (Vincent) Stauffer in Jamestown.
He married Dorothy Regier on May 29,
1955, in Goessel. They shared a passion for travel, square dancing,
animals and a deep love for family. They traveled to many different
places throughout the United States. They were married for more than
51 years until her death on Jan. 5, 2007.
He later married Shirley (Morris)
Braun. She survives.
Norman was retired from the airplane
industry. He worked at Boeing and several other airplane
manufacturers. He was active in 4-H, his church, Youth Fellowship at
the Salem United Methodist Church and Gideon’s International. He
and Dorothy were longtime participants in the Community Thanksgiving
Dinner.
Norman will be remembered as a man with
many friends, great love for his children and grandchildren and the
many Grandfather Clocks he made and gave to his family members and
kept in his home. He was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist
Church of Newton.
He is survived by his three children:
two sons, Jeff (Karla) Stauffer, Tim (Linda) Stauffer; daughter,
Julie (Corey) Janzen; brother, Raymond (Betty) Stauffer; six
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
Dorothy Stauffer; and parents, Edward and Opal Stauffer.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation
was Monday, May 20, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home. Following the
service, a committal will be held at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in
rural Newton.
