Helen P. Amrine
HESSTON - Helen P. Amrine, 88, of
Hesston died Wednesday (Jan. 17, 2007) at Schowalter Villa in
Hesston. She was born April 23, 1918, in Coffeyville to William and
Allie Roberts. Her parents both died when Helen was young, and she
was adopted by Louisa Entz. Helen attended Newton schools and
graduated from Newton High School in 1936. She worked as a nurse aide
at Axtell Hospital and several nursing homes in the Newton area.
Helen married Harry P. Dick in 1948. They later divorced.
On June 22, 1996, she married Abram
Amrine. He survives of the home.
Helen formerly attended Grace Community
Church in Newton and was currently attending Hesston United Methodist
Church. She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies
Auxiliary, Senior Center Retired Volunteers and the Election Board,
all of Newton. She greatly enjoyed her retirement years, especially
traveling to be near her family with her beloved husband Abram.
Other survivors include: a daughter,
Bette Holley of Deridder, La.; granddaughters, Rachelle Breithaupt,
Pamela Newton, Jessica Newton, Ashley Newton and Stephanie Newton;
grandson, Paul Holley; great-grandsons, Justin Breithaupt, Joshua
Breithaupt and Cameron Holley; four nephews; three nieces; an aunt,
Goldie Johnson of Tulsa, Okla.; and a brother, Ira H. Roberts of
Hutchinson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
today at Petersen Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at
Petersen Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Tom Snyder of Hesston
United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton.
