Marie Didier

Marie Didier, 90, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2007) at her Newton residence. Marie (Goering) Didier was born on Dec. 24, 1916, to Lilly (Krehbiel) and Eli Goering in Galva. On March 22, 1953, she married John (Jack) Eugene in Newton. He died on Nov. 24, 1984. Marie was a member of Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren. She held a strong belief in her faith. Her favorite pastimes were quilting, enjoying gatherings and luncheons with her friends and most of all her time spent with her great-grandchildren.

Marie was a loving and caring person and always very giving of herself.

Survivors include son, Richard Didier, and wife, Nancy of Newton; sister-in-law, Verilyn Goering of Galva; sister-in-law, Colleen Didier of Wichita; nephew, Ernie Goering Jr. of Galva; granddaughter, Erica Didier-Maxwell of Newton; grandson, Jacob Daniel Didier of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Jace and Peyton Maxwell of Newton; and three great-nieces and one great-nephew of Galva.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernie Goering; stepmother, Sarah Didier; brother, Dave Goering; and sister-in-law, Alice Unruh.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren with John Warkentin officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren and Hospice Care of Kansas.
