George Helmer
GOESSEL - George Helmer, 92, died
Friday (Nov. 4, 2005) at Bethesda Home in Goessel. He was born Dec.
19, 1912, to David and Anna (Eberhart) Helmer in Saskatchewan,
Canada. They preceded him in death. George retired as a truck driver
for Harvey County. He also owned and operated Helmer's Vickers
station in Marion. George served his country in the U.S. Army during
World War II. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in
Newton. He greatly looked forward to visiting with his family and
friends and spending time working around his home and in his yard.
Survivors include: wife, Carol (Adam)
Helmer of Newton; daughters, Barbara Bessel of Assaria, Linda and Dan
Stucky of Wichita and Brenda and Mark Buller of Newton; brothers,
Fred Helmer of Marion and Ezra Helmer of Marion; a sister, Ann Boese
of Marion; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by: first
wife, Leona Higgins; a daughter, Georgia Vogel; brothers, Dave
Helmer, John Helmer, Harry Helmer, Albert Helmer and Will Helmer; and
a grandson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday
at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sherry Clemons
officiating.
Burial will be in Marion City Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Salem United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
