Linda K. Nelson
Linda K. Nelson, 51, died Thursday
(Nov. 17, 2005) at Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center in
Wichita. She was born Sept. 26, 1954, to Wilmer and Pauline (Hefty)
Nelson in Hillsboro. Her father preceded her in death; her mother
survives of Newton. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church
where she was very active serving on the Board of Trustees and
teaching Sunday school. She was a member of the Harvey County
Committee for Disabled Persons and did public speaking about living
with disabilities. Linda greatly enjoyed reading and writing and
wrote many short stories and poems. She was a member of the Kansas
Authors Club. She also enjoyed oil painting and spending time with
her loving family and keeping up with her many nieces and nephews.
Linda enjoyed the many pet cats she had over the years.
Other survivors include: sisters, Ethel
R. Smith of Valley Center and Nancy and Jim David of Burns; a
brother, the Rev. Roy and Karen Nelson of Moscow, Kan.; nephews,
James Nelson, Mark Nelson, Phillip Nelson, Clarice Haner, Jon Neely,
Mick Davis and Tony Davis; nieces, Erin Richardson, Jenny Long and
Laura Dreyer; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a
sister, Jean Clark.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with family greeting friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday
at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sherry Clemons
officiating.
Burial will be Restlawn Gardens of
Memory in Newton.
Memorials have been established with
Salem United Methodist Church and Forest Park United Methodist
Conference and Retreat Center, both in care of the funeral home.
