Marcella Earlene Throne
OVERLAND PARK - Marcella Earlene
Throne, 85, died Saturday (Nov. 19, 2005) at her home in Overland
Park. Born Aug. 9, 1920, in Hutchinson, she was the daughter of Henry
and Elizabeth Chappel Toevs of Newton. She married Dr. Elias M.
Throne on May 10, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death
in January 1987. She was a homemaker. She graduated from Newton High
School, the Halstead School of Nursing and University of
Missouri-Kansas City. She was a nurse in the U.S. Army during World
War II. She was a past president of the Medical Alliance of the
Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City, a member of the
Research Hospital Auxiliary, a Research Hospital volunteer and
secretary of the Shalom Village Association. Throughout her life she
was involved as a volunteer in a variety of activities.
She is survived by a son, Tom Throne,
Junction City; two daughters, Carol LeVar, Lenexa, and Beth Jantsch,
Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Donald Toevs, Shawnee, Horace
Toevs, Newton, and Bruce Toevs, Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Roberta
Swinehart, Norwich, Betty Turman, Springfield, Mo., and Judy Cox,
Newton; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m.
Tuesday at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel and
Cemetery, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Funeral service will follow
at 5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
