Marjorie R. Brown, 88, died Tuesday
(Nov. 29, 2005) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton.
She was born June 18, 1917, to Emel and
Josephine (Giles) Rittmueller in Des Plaines, Ill. They preceded her
in death. She married Robert Brown Nov. 10, 1946, in the Grand
Canyon. He survives.
She was an associate member of First
United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of
America, the Women's BPW and Beta Sigma Phi, Church Women United, the
church choir and she was a member of the debate team.
Marjorie worked 25 years at KG&E.
She loved sports, especially baseball, hockey and tennis, and she
loved the Chicago Cubs. She also loved chocolate and cats, teaching
Sunday class to children, games and walking. She was an excellent
typist.
Other survivors include: a daughter,
Robyn R. (Brown) Swanson of Newton; a brother, James Rittmueller of
Des Plaines, Ill.; sisters, Dorothy Schuemann of Hobart, Ind., and
Jeanette Brunguss of Firebaugh, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
Services will be held at a later date.
Petersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established with
the Girl Scouts of America and First United Church of Christ, both in
care of the funeral home.
