Obituary

Steve Alan Basore, 56, of Halstead, died Jan. 6, 2016, of melanoma. Visitation will be Monday (Jan. 11, 2016) from 5 to 9 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 12, 2016) at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley. Steve wanted those in attendance to wear casual attire.

He was born April 13, 1959, in Wichita, and grew up in the Bentley, Udall and Moundridge communities. He attended Moundridge High School and graduated from Halstead High School in 1976. He accepted Christ as savior on Oct. 29, 1979. Steve worked for 33 years as a roof truss builder at Skyline in Halstead.

Survivors include: mother, Carolyn and Ron Doyle of Newton; father, Donald Basore of Wichita; sisters, Sherry and Gary Harder, Susan and Jerome Garofalo, all of Newton; nephews, Jamison and Danielle Bonham of Halstead, Mark and Jennifer Boyer of California; nieces, Alexis Worthington of Newton, Doni and Christopher Perry of Wichita; great-nephews, Sebastian Worthington, Greyson Kealey; great-nieces, Windsor Worthington, Mia Kealey; uncle and aunt, Carl and Connie Roberts of Arizona; feline friend, Buddy. Preceded in death by grandparents, Earl "E.T." and Neva Crawford Basore, Edith Boerger Carmichael, Robert Carmichael, and Ernest Roberts.
