Guadalupe "Lupe" Cardenas
Terrones, 97, retired secretary, died Sunday (Jan. 24, 2016).
Lupe was born in Colotlan Jalisco,
Mexico on December 15, 1918. She was a long time resident of Newton
and a 1939 graduate of Newton High School. She worked as a secretary
and bookkeeper at Berry's Hatchery for many years. Along with
working, she spent many years caring for her parents and siblings.
She married Faustino A. Terrones in March of 1988.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers and
loved cooking for her family. Her hobbies included searching for and
collecting beautiful antiques. Lupe had a great sense of humor and
library of relevant quotations. Above all, she was very close to her
faith.
She is preceded in death by her
parents, Amador and Rosa Cardenas; sisters, Emma Cardenas and Estella
Ruvalcaba; and husband, Faustino Terrones.
She leaves behind her brother, Benjamin
(Debbie) Cardenas of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister, Sara (Luis)
Quinones of Lake Stevens, Washington; brothers-in-law, Hector J.
Ruvalcaba of Wichita and Leo Terrones of Newton; sister-in-law, Loren
Terrones Lujano of Newton; and niece, Cynthia (Alan) Mitchell of
Humble, Texas.
Rosary will be held 6 p.m. Friday (Jan.
29, 2016) with a funeral at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, (Jan. 30, 2016) both
at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Newton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to
Rosary Time Friday evening with the family receiving friends until 8
p.m. after the rosary at the church.
