Obituary
Stanley E. "Stan" Voth 91,
died Saturday (Feb. 6, 2016) at his North Newton residence.
He was born August 14, 1924 in Kai
Chow, Hopei Province, China, to his missionary parents William C. and
Mathilda (Kliewer) Voth. They both preceded him in death. Stan went
to Mission Schools in China and graduated from Newton High School in
1942. From 1943 to 1946 he served his country in Civilian Public
Service. He graduated from Bethel College and 1949 and later earned a
Master's Degree in Chemistry from Northern Iowa University.
He married Elsie Epp of Henderson,
Nebraska. In 1950 then taught in schools in Freeman, South Dakota,
Milford and Henderson, Nebraska, retiring to North Newton in 1987.
His wife Elsie died in 1990 after which he married Viola Ediger of
Regina, Sask, Canada in 1992. She preceded him in death on August 11,
2015.
Stan is survived by a son, Timothy and
his wife Carolyn (Rich) Voth of Topeka; daughter Debra Voth and her
husband Ken Gaeddert of Hesston; brothers Leland Voth of
Harrisonburg, Virginia; two sisters: Maurine Regehr of North Newton,
and Helen Bertrand also of North Newton; five grandchildren: Rachel,
Michael, and Andrew Voth and Lee and Jesse Voth-Gaeddert.
He is preceded in death by two wives,
his parents and siblings: Winifred and Homor and a grandson William.
Stan was a longtime active member of
Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton where he was the
church archivist.
Visitation will be 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday (Feb. 10, 2016) at Menno Hall in Kidron Bethel. Burial will
be 10 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 11, 2016) at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton,
with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at Bethel College
Mennonite Church with Pastor Dorothy Nickel-Friesen presiding.
