James Lee Campbell, 88, of Newton died
Friday (March 19, 2010).
He was a veteran of World War II,
serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a bombardier on a B-26 in the
European Theatre.
After the war, Lee worked for Williams
Co., formerly Cities Service Gas Co., for 35 years. He was a member
of the VFW, American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He loved the outdoors
and was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalee
(King) Campbell; his daughter, Cindy Sutton and husband, Rick, of
McPherson; two sons, James W. Campbell of Springfield, Mo., and
Steven G. Campbell and wife, Denise, of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother,
Glenn Campbell and wife, Jackie, of Drumwright, Okla.; eight
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Archie and Ella Campbell; a brother, Neal Campbell; and a
sister, Jeanne Cook.
The memorial service was at 10 a.m.
today at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel.
