Obituary
Dean D. Heintz, 91, died Tuesday (Feb.
23, 2016) at Newton Presbyterian Manor. He was born Jan. 8, 1925, in
Mitchell, South Dakota to Peter L. and Minnie (Corrington) Heintz. On
March 4, 1943, he married Lois F. (Backlund) Heintz and she survives
of the home. Dean served his country during World War II in the
United States Navy on the USS Stanly DD428 Destroyer. He retired as a
plumber and pipefitter. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist
Church, the Masonic Lodge and plumbers and pipefitters union 171 in
Wichita. Dean enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and built his
family home in rural Augusta. He was a loving husband, father and
grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and coffee
buddies.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, of
Newton; daughter and son-in-law Joan and Gregg Petersen of Newton;
daughter Jean and her husband Jim Cherrington of Fairplay, Colorado;
daughter Lynn and her husband Richard Burgess of Lyons; and he also
is survived by six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents
and infant son Vaughn.
Graveside committal service with U.S.
Navy Honors will be 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton with Pastor Ron Kite of Salem United Methodist
Church presiding. There will be a private visitation only prior to
the service.
