Mary's life began on May 30, 1938 in
Dickens, Nebraska; the daughter of Guy and Lula (Bruce) Rucker. She
was united in marriage to John D. Bastow on July 18, 1998.
She worked for many years for Dr. Jack
Dickson as a chiropractic assistant and she also worked in the
medical field in Newton. Mary was a faithful member of the Park
Avenue Baptist Church in El Dorado and the church's woman's circle.
She also had been a member of the First Missionary Church in Newton
before coming to El Dorado.
Her loving family includes her husband
John of El Dorado, children Lorna ( Clay) Duntz of Leon, Tom (Cindy)
Toedman of El Dorado, Kim (Mike) Lasiter of Newton, and Ron ( Down)
Toedman of El Dorado, step sons Steve (Jessica) Bastow of Newton and
Roger (Joyce) Bastow of Santa Rosa, CA; eight grandchildren, six step
grandchildren, five great grandchildren and six step great
grandchildren; brothers Blaine (Hallie) Rucker of Newton and Doug
Rucker of Bartlesville, OK; sister Helen Barney of Yates Center and
several nieces and nephews.
Mary passed away on May 15, 2015 at
Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her
first husband Loren Toedman. Her family will gather with friends on
Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home (224 W. Ash;
Eldorado) for a celebration of Mary's life. Reverend Dr. Michael
Blaine will offer words of encouragement at 6 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home.
