Obituary
Helen Jane (Hawkins) Payne passed away
at her home on March 5, 2015.
She was born to Marion and Molly
Hawkins on Feb. 13, 1939, in Chanute.
She graduated from Newton High School
in 1957 and the Halstead Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. She
retired in 2003 from North Suburban Medical Center (Valley View
Hospital) in Denver.
She is survived by her children, Terri
(Dennis) Mohrlang, Shannon (Steve) Brooks; grandchildren, Kurtis Fry,
Kaylynn What, Traci Thomas; and her great-granddaughter, Alexus Fry;
her sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Whomans; nieces, Diane (Jim) Schrag,
Debbie Whomans; and nephew, David Whomans; her companion of 30 years,
Robert Poucher; her trivia buddy, Martin Ladd; along with all her
dear and close friends at the Village Pub.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and husband, Neil Payne.
She chose to be cremated and will be
laid to rest at a later date in her home town of Newton.
