Obituary
Lillian Erna Folkerts Gilbert, 96, died
Friday (April 1, 2016) at Asbury Park in Newton. She was born Nov. 1,
1919, in Timkin, to George and Margarita (Josefiak) Folkerts. On Dec.
15, 1941, she married Max H. Gilbert at Pawnee Rock and he preceded
her in death.
Lillian was an elementary school
secretary for 16 years. She was a lifelong Lutheran and member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Newton. She was also a member of Ladies Aide
of the church and the VFW Auxiliary.
Lillian loved to read and travel and
was known as a fun-loving lady who never knew a stranger. She also
enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Lillian was a kind-hearted person
and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to
many.
She is survived by her daughter:
Patricia and her husband Lester of Leesburg, Florida; son Mark and
his wife Cindy Gilbert of Newton, Iowa; and daughter Shelly and Ted
Blosser of Wichita, Kansas.
She is also survived by six
grandchildren: Keith Berkey, Angela Berkey Shriner, Todd Gilbert,
Tyler Blosser, Katelynn Blosser and Kirstin Blosser; and two
great-grandchildren: Kalli Shriner and Kohen Shriner.
Lillian was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m.
Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church Newton with the
Reverend Aaron Filipek presiding. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday evening at Zion Lutheran Church, 225 South Poplar, Newton.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the
church. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Peace Lutheran
Cemetery in rural Albert, Kansas.

Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Hospice in
