Roy O. Schmidt
HESSTON - Roy O. Schmidt, 88, died
Friday (Oct. 28, 2005) at Newton Medical Center. He was born Nov. 29,
1916, in Newton to Karl and Helen (Schroeder) Schmidt. He married
Ruth Schmidt on May 30, 1998, in Goessel. She survives of Hesston. He
worked at Hesston Corp. before his retirement. He was a charter
member of Goessel Mennonite Church, Goessel Lions Club, Mennonite
Men's Chorus and Schowalter Villa Men's Chorus. Other survivors
include: a son, Jerry Schmidt of Boyne City, Mich.; two daughters,
Carlotta Hemphill and Twila Schmidt, both of Lawrence; a brother,
Ormond Schmidt of McPherson; a sister, Velora Krehbiel of Lakin; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Monday at Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m.
Tuesday at Goessel Mennonite Church with Pastors Kevin Goertzen and
Greg Holmes officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Goessel
Cemetery.
