Max Eugene Umholtz
Max Eugene Umholtz, 87, died Saturday
(Aug. 4, 2007) at Asbury Park in Newton. He was born on June 1, 1920,
in Newton to William and Anna (Shertz) Umholtz. They preceded him in
death. On Jan. 17, 1954, he married Thelma (Dreier) at Salem United
Methodist Church, formally the EUB Church. He was a member of the
First Church of the Nazarene in Newton. He served in the U.S. Air
Force as a sergeant from 1942 to 1945. He was a farmer for many years
and worked at Hesston Co. for more than
26 years before entering into
retirement. He was a kind and loving man who loved his family very
much.
Survivors include his spouse of Newton;
a son, William Umholtz and wife Nancy of Newton; a daughter, Gail Leo
and husband Joe of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; a brother, Williard
Umholtz and wife Sharon of Cottonwood Falls; grandson, Ryan Clapp and
wife Regina of Wellington, Fla.; granddaughters, Lacy Lorenson and
Zach of Park City and Mindy Clapp of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.;
great-granddaughters, Ayla Lorenson of Park City, Taylor Clapp of
Wellington, Kan., and Chassadi Summers of Wellingon, Fla.; and many
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton with family
present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at
First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ron Thorton officiating.
Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Zimmerdale.
