Clarence Schmidt
Obituary
Clarence Schmidt, 79, passed away Feb.
15, 2015, at his residence east of Macon.
Clarence was born in McPherson County,
Kansas, on May 29, 1935, to the late Cornelius and Alverta Schmidt.
He married Verna Wenger on August 28, 1955, at Hesston, Kansas.
An avid farmer and cabinet builder,
Clarence resided near Newton, Kansas, until 1974 when he moved to
Noxubee County, Mississippi, to continue his farming occupation.
A member of the South Haven Mennonite
Church, he always had a special interest in mission work, both at
home and abroad. After retirement he and Verna participated in
different mission programs.
Preceding him in death were his
parents, two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife Verna; three
sons, Ron and Marlin of Macon and Jay of Avera, Georgia, two
daughters, Jeanette Classen of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Marilee
Nightingale, also of Macon; twenty-three grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters: Janice
Holdeman, Rosalie Koehn, Darla Martin and Lois Yost.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening
from 6 to 8 pm at the South Haven Mennonite Church.
Services are to be held at 10:30 am
Thursday, Feb. 19, at South Haven Mennonite Church with Ministers Leo
Classen, Galen Schmidt, Keith Nightingale and Larry Giesbrecht
officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
