Belen Terrones
1920 – 2015
Obituary
Our mother, Belen Terrones, passed away
peacefully on February 10, 2015.
Mom was born February 28, 1920, in
Newton. Mom and her life partner, our father Alfred, were married on
Wednesday, February 4, 1948. Mom was a lifelong member of Our Lady of
Guadalupe Church and an active member of the Altar Society, where she
chaired various committees.
Mother found joy in cooking for her
family and perfected her cinnamon roll recipe. She was an avid reader
of newspapers and especially enjoyed the Reader's Digest Condensed
Novels. During World War II, Mom supported the war effort and was
employed at an aircraft factory in Wichita. Mom will be remembered
for her joy in sewing, especially making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls
and various stuffed animals. For a short period of time, Mom
volunteered at the Newton Public Library. Mom's greatest joy in life
was simply spending time with our Dad and her family.
Mother was preceded in death by our
father, two brothers, Carlos, Robert and sisters, Edelmira, Petra,
Jobita, Felicia, Sally and Teresa.
Survivors include children, Sara
Terrones, Albert (Ruth) Terrones, Emma (Dwight) Gribble, Alicia
(Scott) Tighe, and granddaughter, Claire Gribble. In addition, two
brothers, Russell Hernandez of Newton, Rudolph Hernandez of St.
Augustine, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic
Church followed by the Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Burial will immediately
follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
