Anita Lauretta Gaede

Obituary
Anita Lauretta Gaede died on Jan. 16,
2015, in Hesston. She was born to Myrtle and Harold Orndoff in
Wichita on Sept. 2, 1935. She had an active life that led her in many
directions and different locations.
She grew up in Wichita, with her
sisters, Murle and Ramona, and brothers, Marvin, Warren and Chet.
They later moved to Kansas City as her dad worked for the Santa Fe
RR.
Anita married Eugene Gaede on Dec. 31,
1976, in Newton. Anita was an active lifetime member of the Fraternal
Order of Eagles, holding several posts, including serving as
president of the Yucaipa Ca. Aerie; she also was an auxiliary member
of the American Legion and the VFW. She was active in many benefits
and always ready to help on the charity front.
Anita loved playing bingo, and was
always ready for a game of cards, especially at the local Aerie,
often seen playing her pocket poker game that was rarely out of
reach.
Her many children and grandchildren
provided her plenty of comfort and pleasure, along with her passion
for books, which was always the best gift for her to receive.
Anita will be greatly missed by her
many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Eugene Gaede; granddaughter, Tina Maria Smith; and
brother, Marvin Orndoff.
She is survived by her children: sons,
Robert (Bob) and Cecilia Smith, Steven Smith, Kevin and Christine
Gaede; daughters, Mari and Terry McCrary, Darla and Bobby Garrison,
Debbie and Troy Carroll, Lori and Mike Esau, Teri and AI Bryan,
Brenda and Vince Redinger, and Beth and Rod Moore; 23 grandchildren;
and 24 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 4 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 24, in Newton at the Eagles Aerie, 120 W. Fifth St.,
Newton, KS 67114.
