Obituary

Walter Paul Shacklett, 72, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Newton Medical Center after a long battle with multiple myeloma.

Mr. Shacklett was a native and lifelong resident of Newton. Walter was born on April 15, 1942, the son of the late Glen E. and Hazel A. ( Stott) Shacklett.

Mr. Shacklett is survived by cousins, Joseph Cook, Patrick (Sadie) Cook, Kelly (Todd) Travaille, all of Omaha Nebraska, and his extended family and friends at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Mr. Shacklett was a beatnik (and would smile when you mentioned that fact) and graduated with an art degree from Bethel College in 1962. He was an avid reader, particularly anything relating to Sherlock Holmes.

He was a long time employee of the United States Post Office in Wichita.
