Obituary
Carol J. Munger, 70, died Sunday (Jan.
25, 2015) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Unit of Via Christi
Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born Oct. 16, 1944, in Oketo,
the daughter of Francis and Catherine Latus Brockman. The family
moved to Oakland, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1962.
Carol married William J. Munger Sr. on June 12, 1964, in Sioux City,
Iowa.
Shortly after being married, they moved
to northeast Kansas. Carol had been a waitress for several years; she
also owned and operated Carol's Place in Beattie for eight years. In
1969, the Mungers started their own trucking business in Beattie, and
the business was relocated to Newton in 1985. The Mungers moved to
Newton in 1992.
Mr. Munger died on April 28, 1997, and
Carol continued to live in Newton until moving to Wichita last year.
Survivors include her children, James
Munger of Topeka, Billy Munger of Lenexa, Mark Munger of Newton, and
Crystal Schaus of Wichita; 10 grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lorenz Brockman of Newton and Fred
Brockman of Masedonia, Iowa; and three sisters, Marie Griffee of
Beattie, Betty Wolfgang of Hancock, Iowa, and Theresa Burrington of
Emerson, Iowa.
Carol was preceded in death by her
parents; husband; brothers, Francis, Leo and ""Abe""
Brockman; grandson, Samuel Isaac Munger; and stepchildren, Ronald W.
Munger and Charlotte Josoff.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment
will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 until 9 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends
between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
