Obituary
David Wayne Bazil Sr., 86, died on
Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
David was born on March 29, 1928, in
Arkansas City to Cecil and Nina (Flood) Bazil, and later he also was
raised by his stepmother, Catherine.
David was in the U.S. Navy and served
on the USS Hanson. He was discharged in 1947.
He married Doris Jean Rodgers on June
5, 1953, in the Church of the Brethern in Newton. They were married
for 61 years prior to his passing.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing and
camping, but he loved golf. He played on many golf courses in Wichita
and the surrounding area. He retired from Beechcraft in 1991 after
serving 40 years as an analyst.
He is survived by his wife, Doris
Bazil; son, David Bazil Jr. and his spouse, Teresa; grandchild,
Ashleigh and Joe Parker; and two great-grandchildren, Holden and
Emmett.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1
p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Church of the Brethern in Newton.
Visitation is scheduled at Petersen Funeral Home for Wednesday, Jan.
28; visitation time is from 5 to 9 p.m., with the family present to
greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The graveside committal will follow
the service at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton. The U.S.
Navy will present military honors at the gravesite.
