Obituary
MARION - Gary Norman Cole, 75, of
Marion died Monday (April 4, 2016) at the Newton Medical Center.
He was born on October 6, 1940, in
Lawrence, the son of Jess A. and Doris Farmer Cole. The family moved
to Wichita where Gary attended schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army
in 1961 serving until 1965 during the Viet Nam Conflict.
Gary returned to Wichita and went to
work at Beech Aircraft where he worked for several years. He moved to
California where he was a mechanic for a boat company. He married
Lois Roberta Rodgers on May 15, 1968 in San Diego, California. They
later moved to Arlington, Texas, where he worked for a machine shop
before moving to Newton in the early 1990s.
Lois died on January 14, 2000. Gary
moved to Marion in 2001 where he lived until recently moving to the
Peabody Care Center.
He was a life member of the V.F.W.,
currently holding his membership at the Marion Post #6958, as well as
a life member of the American Legion with his current membership at
the Hillsboro post.
He is survived by his daughter Janita
Otwell of Enid, Okla.; grandson Damien Sunday; and sister Sandra
Salsbury of Hillsboro.
Graveside memorial services will be at
2 p.m. Thursday (April 14, 2016) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
As cremation has been effected there
will be no visitation.

Caring Hands Humane Society of Newton, contributions may be sent to
