Marlene Pierce, 93, died on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, in Newton.

Marlene was born on Sept. 12, 1921, in Hettange-Grande, France, to Albert and Suzanne Zanella. She lived in France for 26 years and then moved to the United States to start a life with her husband, Roy Lee Pierce.

She loved classical music and traveled extensively in Europe and the Mediterranean.

She is survived by her two children: daughter, Renee Brubaker; son, Roy Pierce; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita. A memorial has been established for Catholic Charities of Wichita.
