Arnold F. Gackstatter

Gackstatter, Arnold F., 91, retired 40 yr. Derby Refinery, Wichita Chemical Engineer, passed away Feb. 3, 2013. Arnold was born on his family's farm southwest of Stuttgart, KS. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School and Fort Hays University. Arnold was a historian, intriguing his listeners with his many stories of days gone by. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife, family, church, music, travel and photography. His hobbies were clock repair, carpentry, building vintage radios and exercising. He and his wife enjoyed a bowling team and serving Meals on Wheels. He and his wife, Esther resided in Wichita until 2001 upon moving to Presbyterian Manor in Newton. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth (Dill) Gackstatter; brother, Herman Gackstatter; sisters, Irene Wylie, Hattie Miller and Agnes Howard. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Esther; brother, Edwin Gackstatter of Guymon, OK; sister-in-law, Eleanor LaBay of Kansas City; 8 nieces and nephews. No service is scheduled.
