NEWTON - Metzler, Samuel E., 79, auto
mechanic, service station and wrecker service owner, died April 22,
2004. Visitation with family 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday; service 10 a.m.
Monday, both at Petersen Funeral Home. Mr. Metzler was a member of
the V.F.W. and American Legion. He served in the US Navy from 1942-45
and Naval Reserves from 1947-52. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing,
square dancing, jewelry making and silver smithing. Preceded in death
by father, Phillip H. Metzler; mother, Lucille Metzler; son, Michael
and Gina Metzler.
Survivors: wife, Ernestine; daughters
and sons-in-law, Anne and Jim Brockman of Emporia, Karen and Bill
Schneweis of Wichita; sons and daughter s-in-law, Phillip Joseph
Metzler of Scottsdale, AZ, Randy and Robyn Metzler of Newton, Samuel
Metzler Jr. of Olathe, Thomas and Aimee Metzler of Newton; brothers,
Homer Metzler, Leo Metzler of San Diego, CA, Merle Metzler of
Brewster, KS; sister, Myrna Griffin of Colby, KS; 17 grandchildren; 6
great-gr andchildren. Memorial established with Newton Fire-EMS.
