Matthew H. Nelson
Obituary
The Nelson family shares, with deep
sadness, that Matthew H. Nelson, age 42, died on Thursday, April 7,
2016, from complications following heart valve surgery.
Matt lived in Newton for more than
twenty years and had many friends. He loved volunteering at the
Kansas Christian Home and was proud of being a board member of Caring
Place.
Matt was well known in several Newton
stores as a fierce bargainer and shopper, especially at the Et Cetera
Shop. He loved getting good deals and usually did so with his clever
and wry sense of humor. Matt was an ace at miniature golf and enjoyed
music. Above all, Matt loved his parents, his sister, his extended
family, his friends and the Newton community.
He was laid to rest on Saturday, April
9, 2016, in the Welcome Cemetery, south of Manhattan, Kansas.
A memorial honoring Matt will be held
in Newton in May. Details will be forthcoming.
