Obituary
Florene (Riesen) Penner died on Nov. 29, 2014, at Kidron
Bethel Village in North Newton.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1928, to Amelia (Harms) and Arthur
N. Riesen in Newton.
On Sept. 15, 1949, she married Joseph Penner at the Grace
Hill Mennonite Church, rural Newton. She worked for many years as a
receptionist for the Hertzler Clinic in Halstead. Florene and Joe resided in
Burrton for 40 years, before relocating to North Newton.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph, North Newton; son and
daughter-in-law, Michael (Janice) Penner, Wichita; two daughters and
son-in-law, Janet (Roger) Kaufman and Teresa Yost, all of Wichita; brother, A.
Marlin (Joan) Riesen, Rogers, Arkansas; three grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3,
2014, at First Mennonite Church of Halstead. Pastor Brian Harmon will be
presiding.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, with
the family greeting from 6 to 8 p.m., at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E.
Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
A private family burial will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to
First Mennonite Church or Kidron Bethel Retirement Community, in care of the
funeral home.
