Obituary

Alice Darlene (Hosie) Vogt, 81, died Aug. 20, 2014, at the Mt. Hope Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 23, 1932 near Mentor, KS, to Richard and Priscilla (Elliott) Hosie. She grew up in the Enterprise area with her three brothers and sisters; Irvin Hosie, Dorothy lovett, Louise Henderson, Roy Hosie, Robert Hosie and Charlotte Kuntz, She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1950. While attending Halstead Hospital's nursing school, she met and married Howard Vogt of Halstead in 1951. The couple had two sons. John Chris and Brian Jay. The family lived in Halstead, Gallup, New Mexico, Fort Defiance and Ganado Mission, Arizona, Long Beach and Huntington Beach, Califorinia.

Alice loved camping, boating, her southern California yard and garden with it's citrus trees, and her nursing career. After graduating as a RN from Orange Coast Community College, she worked as a nurse for Long Beach VA Hospital for many years. She had a special affinity and care for the many veterans who passed through her ward. After retiring from the VA, she worked in home health care.

Her youngest son Brian faithfully looked out for her in California. In 2004, she moved to Norton to be near her son, John. She lived at Moundridge, and recently moved to Mt. Hope, She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Brian, her husband Howard, and her sister, Dorothy.

She is survived by her son John and wife Karen of Haven; daughter-in-law Teresa Vogt of Anaheirr grandchildren Sean Vogt of Newport Beach, California; Scott Vogt of Brea, California; Melissa Vogt of Colby; step-grandchildren Ryan Washburn and wife Rachelle of Wichita, Tara Wieland of Damar, and Brandon Washburn

of Jonkoping, Sweden.

Alice's greatest joy these last several years were her five great-grandchildren. She relished in the visits from Gabe and Grant Wieland, Cohen arid Kinley Washburn and Ava Jo Stomberg-Vogt.

A graveside service will be 10:30 am on Friday (Sept. 5, 2014), at the Mount Hope Cemetery at rural Enterprise. Memorials may be made to the Colby Community College Nursing Fund, in care of Wulf-Ast Mortuary, 120 King St., Mt. Hope, KS, 67108.
