Obituary
Pharis Mullins passed from this life on September 20, 2014.
Born on May 12, 1948 to Louis & Hazel (Jones) Mullins in
Exeter, Missouri, he served in the United States Marine Corps earning the
National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge,
Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm & Frame, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/
device, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Pharis was a lifetime member of the
VFW/Legion.
After serving in the USMC he worked as a mechanic. His
hobbies included fishing, gardening & watching cooking shows. Pharis and
his wife Virginia had four daughters, Jinger Heaston, Shonda Mullins, Dawn
Mullins & Shelly DeMont. They also have 9 grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren.
Pharis is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and
great grandchildren; brothers, Lester, Francis, Maurice, John, Homer, Norman
& Ronald Mullins; sister, Sharon Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leon,
Daryl & Doug Mullins; and sister Eva Schoonover.
Visitation will be held at Petersen Funeral Home on Thursday
from 5-9 pm. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 10 am at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton, Kansas.
Memorial suggestion to Mullins Family in lieu of flowers to
assist with funeral costs.
