Eldon M. Schmidt
Eldon M. Schmidt, 79, died Saturday
(May 11, 2002) at Presbyterian Manor. He was born May 27, 1922, to
John J. and Anna (Lehman) Schmidt in Goessel. They preceded him in
death. He married Margaret Eck. She preceded him in death in 1968. He
married Irene Goertz Dec. 11, 1971, in Newton. She survives of the
home. He worked for DMH Mobile Home Manufacturing in Newton. He was a
member of First Mennonite Church in Newton where he sang in the
church choir and with the Mennonite Men's Chorus for 30 years.
Other survivors include a sister, Linda
Jantz of Hillsboro. He was also preceded in death by a sister,
Phyllis Schmidt.
Book signing will be from 9 a. m. To 5
p. m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home. Family will greet friends
from 6:30 to 8 p. m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church.
Memorial service will be 11 a. m.
Friday at First Mennonite Church with Pastor Verney Unruh and
Chaplain Peter Hartman of Hospice Care of Kansas officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
the Mennonite Central Committee, Mennonite Mission of Kansas and
Hospice Care of Kansas, all in care of the funeral home.
