Joseph Marion Shaw
BURRTON -- Joseph Marion Shaw, 75,
retired department manger with Montgomery Wards, died Sunday (May 12,
2002) at Wesley Medical Center in WIchita. He was born Sept. 6, 1926,
to George Byron and Nellie Mae (Deal) Shaw in Wichita. He married
Patsy Lou Rose Oct. 2, 1947, in Wichita. She survives. He was a 1944
graduate of Burrton High School and a 1950 graduate of Wichita State
University. He was a longtime Burrton resident and a member of United
Methodist Church in Burrton. He held memberships in the Burrton Lions
Club, the Masonic Lodge and Shriners in Wichita and the Harvey County
Area Council on Aging. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in
the Navy.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Michael N. Shaw of Wichita, David M. Shaw of El Dorado and Steven
Shaw of Burrton; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two
brothers, Theodore Shaw and Eugene Shaw.
Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today
and from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. Wednesday, all at Elliott Mortuary in
Hutchinson.
A cremation has taken place. Memorial
graveside service will be 10 a. m. Thursday at Burrton City Cemetery
with Pastor Larry Ankrom officiating. Military honors will be
conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Memorials have been established with
the Burrton Public Library in care of the funeral home, 1219 N. Main.
