Obituary
Lyle A. "Papa" Powers Jr.,
71, a retired construction consultant/inspector, entered the gates of
heaven on June 5, 2014.
He was born July 5, 1942, in Wichita to
Lyle A. Powers Sr. and Janette Powers. He was a law enforcement
officer in Newton for more than 15 years. He served the construction
industry of Wichita for many years after that. He was active in the
Shriners organization for many years. He was married to Kay for 26
years.
He was preceded in death by his father,
Lyle A. Powers Sr.; step-father, Casey Wheaton; and sister-in-law,
Glenda Powers.
He is survived by wife, Kay; mother,
Janette Wheaton; brother, Ron Powers; daughters, Vandi Barnhart
(Greg) of Denton, Texas, Shannon Gonzales (Zac) of Wichita; and sons,
Lyle III (Tammie), Matt, Keith (Jennifer), Shane (Michelle) and Sean
(Mindy), all of Wichita. He has three nieces, 17 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be
made to the American Cancer Society or Harry Hines Hospice.
The family would like to thank everyone

"thank you" to the Cancer Center of Kansas' nurses and
staff.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday,
June 10, at Westside Freewill Baptist Church, 3310 W. MacArthur,
Wichita.
