Cory Rutschman
1994 - 2014
Obituary
Cory Alan Rutschman, 19, beloved son, brother, grandson,
nephew and friend, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 7.
Born August 8, 1994, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita,
Kan., Cory was the oldest of two sons of Alan and Beverly Rutschman. He
graduated from Moundridge High School in 2012 and attended classes at
Hutchinson Community College. He had just started work as a metal mechanic at
Spirit AeroSystems and was excited to have an up close and personal view of the
airplanes as they moved through the production process.
A country boy from birth, Cory loved working the land,
especially if it meant operating one of the latest new-fangled pieces of
farming equipment. He was blessed to have had the opportunity to work for
several local farmers during his brief time on earth, and was looking forward
to someday having his own plot of land to tend. His love for all things
mechanical had him spending many a night in the shop, breaking down a truck,
car, tractor, or anything else with a motor, often all at once. Sometimes all
the parts went back together, and sometimes there were a few left over for
another project!
In addition to tearing up the dirt bike trails with his
brother, Cory also liked spending time at home with his family and friends,
doing puzzles, playing games or helping his grandparents with projects. We will
miss his quick smile, sense of humor and the love he had for everyone close to
him.
Cory is survived by his brother Kyle, maternal grandparents
Elvin and Betty Melcher of Newton, paternal grandmother Evlyn Rutschman and
cousins Kaitlyn and Christopher Rutschman, all of Hesston, paternal grandfather
Wayne Rutschman of Moundridge, aunts Kimberly Melcher of Colorado Springs,
Colo., and Valancy Harlow of Soco, Maine, girlfriend McKenzie Senn, the Senn
and Pfautz familes of Newton and the McKinney family of Zimmerdale, as well as
a number of great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Cory was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Beverly,
and an uncle, Scott Rutschman.
