Obituary
Wilma Gladys "Toni"
Schroeder, 88, died on April 5, 2014, in Halstead.
Toni was born on Jan. 22, 1926, to
Andrew and Mary (Buller) Jantz on a farm near Montezuma.
Toni attended Venus Academy Beauty
School in 1942, where she attained her cosmetology license. She held
a variety of jobs and even had a stint as a model at Henry's
Department Store.
In 1950 Toni met the man of her dreams,
Carlton L. Schroeder. Soon after their initial meeting, they were
happily married and enjoyed 31 years of marriage. Toni and Carlton
moved to Alaska in 1972 and these were wonderful years. Toni loved
living in that beautiful state. It was there that Toni developed her
love for the outdoors and hunting. She enjoyed hunting white mountain
goat, bear, moose and caribou. Toni and Carlton also enjoyed raising
and showing Samoyed dogs.
In later years Toni enjoyed game shows
and TV evangelists, especially when her failing health prohibited her
from attending church services. Toni also enjoyed spending time with
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Toni loved the Lord and
was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton and regularly
attended First Missionary Church.
Toni was preceded in death by her
husband and parents.

Killfoil and Helma Smith; her son, Leland B. Schroeder and Mary of
