Mildred "Millie" A. (House)
Knapp, 89, passed away April 13, 2014, at Newton Presbyterian Manor
of complications of Alzheimer's disease.
She was born Aug. 15, 1924, in
Hutchinson to Irl and Agnes House.
Millie was preceded in death by her
husband, Lewis L. Knapp; son, Scott; and brothers, Dewey, Hugh and
Irl House.
Surviving is son, Lewis E. Knapp; four
grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilber
(Melitta) House of Seaside, Calif., Melvin (Mary) House of Manhattan,
Merle House of San Jose, Calif., and Franklin House of Hutchinson;
step-sister, Marilyn (Bob) of Washington; and nieces and nephews.
Millie was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and friend. Millie made a choice to walk with God in the
late 1990's and remained true to that profession of faith until her
death. She began her professional career at age 21 as an operator
with Southwestern Bell and retired as a customer service
representative of AT&T after over 40 years of service. She served
as an officer for the Telephone Workers Union and Credit Union.
Additionally, she was an active member of the Reno County Democratic
Women's Club.
Millie will be remembered as a
congenial, generous person with a wonderful sense of humor who was
dearly loved by her family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 17,
from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N.
Main, Hutchinson, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial
service will be Friday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. also at the Old
Mission-Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Penwell –
Gable Cemetery.
