KS_Newton -- Dean Carl Hiebert, Newton, formerly of Towanda, 86, retired Texaco Refinery Unit Operator, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.
He was born in Tampa to Abraham Peter Hiebert and Minnie Wilhelmina (Kohlman) Hiebert. Dean attended and graduated from Peabody High School with the Class of 1945. Dean served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II and Korean War veteran, where he received the Purple Heart.
On March 31, 1950, he married Delores Rutschman at the Federated Church in Whitewater. Dean worked for Texaco Refinery in El Dorado and retired after 33 years. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Club, American Legion and DAV.
Dean is survived by his wife, Delores Hiebert; children, Donald Hiebert and his wife, Glenda of Newton, Kathy Smith of Newton, Garry Hiebert and his wife, Cheryl of Baton Rouge, La., and Lesa Hiebert of Newton; grandchildren, Marci Walton, Brandon Smith, Jason Hiebert, Alicia Ladner, Elizabeth Jones, Marlin Hiebert and Garrett Hiebert; great-grandchildren, Colton Aarstad, Jayden Walton, Brynna Walton, Tatum Ladner, Kale Ladner, Trace Jones, Layton Jones, Ashtyn Hiebert, Alyse Hiebert, Grayson Hiebert, Cameron Hiebert, Ryan Hiebert, Trinity Hiebert and Chance Ores; sister, Bertha Peacock; brothers, Milton Hiebert and Vernon Hiebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie Hiebert, Ernest Hiebert; and sisters, Dorothy Neighbors and Martha Guhr. Services will be held privately for the family.
