Obituary
GOESSEL - Kenneth W. Schmidt, 79, passed away Tuesday, April
22, 2014, at his home in Newton.
Kenneth was born Oct. 14, 1934, to Henry B. Jr. and Esther
(Klassen) Schmidt in Newton. He was united in marriage to Elsie Flamming on May
6, 1960, in Goessel.
Kenneth was an RN for Prairie View in Newton. He was also a
member of the Tabor Mennonite Church and New Creation Fellowship. One of
Kenneth's greatest joys was raising his two daughters and his two grandsons.
Left to cherish Kenneth's memory are his daughters, Loretta
Schmidt and husband, Mike Hathaway of Greeley, Colo., and Karen Schmidt of
Greeley, Colo.; grandsons, Joe Miller of Great Bend and Jesse Schmidt of
Newton; and brother, Linford Schmidt of Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie; and
brother, Alfred M. Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26,
2014, at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Newton. Burial will follow in Tabor
Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014,
at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel.
