Obituary
Dean Grimm, resident of Parker, Colorado, passed away on
April 26, 2014, after a brief bout with cancer. He was 83 years old. He was
born in a rural area southeast of Conway Springs on May 28, 1930. His parents
were Ralph and Maybelle (McIntyre). Dean was one of seven children. Four of his
brothers, Wayne of Conway Springs, Glenn of Conway Springs, Dale of Wellington
and Clyde of Newton preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years - Eunice (Mull), two
children - Greg of Parker, Colorado and Deana Montgomery of Morgan Hill,
California and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two siblings – Lois
Ward Hendrix of Wichita and Don Grimm of Goleta.
He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954. Dean and
Eunice were married in Danforth Chapel on the campus of the University of
Kansas in 1955. He graduated from KU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical
Engineering. He received the Distinguished Engineering Service Award from KU in
2010 for a lifetime of achievements in engineering. Dean spent his entire
career in the aerospace industry, predominantly with NASA in Houston, Texas. He
joined NASA at a special time in history and played a significant role in the
Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle programs.
Dean was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a
lifetime member of Masonic Lodge No. 6 in Lawrence. He was also an active supporter
of Boy Scouts and a member of the Order of The Arrow.
Services will be held at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in
Newton at 2 p.m.Saturday, May 3.
