IDA ADELENE (ANGLE) ROGERS
Obituary
After a long battle with illness, Ida
Adelene (Angle) Rogers went home to be with our heavenly father on
Tuesday (May 10, 2016), surrounded by her loving family at Newton
Medical Center.
She was born to Pearly Carlisle and
Bertha Agnes (Williams) Angle on June 2, 1940, in Amorita, Oklahoma.
She married Donald F. "Skip" Rogers on October 4, 1955, in
Newton.
Ida was a loving, vivacious and feisty
woman who valued her family and community a great deal. She and her
husband, Skip, have been lifelong Newton residents, and have devoted
their lives to their family, friends and our community.
Ida and Skip volunteered for the
Salvation Army for twenty years, participating in events such as the
Toys for Tots motorcycle run, Salvation Army school supply drive,
Heartland Shares Food Distribution program and Crop Walk.
Ida was also in charge of the Salvation
Army Disaster Relief truck. In that position, they were called out
day or night to assist anyone who was in need. If there was a fire or
community emergency, Skip and Ida could be found there providing food
and drink to the firefighters and other responders, as well as
providing necessities to the families that often times had just lost
everything. If there was an emergency or a family in need in our
community, you could count on them to be there assisting in any and
every way possible.
Family was everything to Ida. She took
great joy in taking care of her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She was an outstanding sister, a very active mother,
grandmother, great grandmother and 'Mimi.'
Ida could be found at every sporting
event, Boy Scout event, or activity that her children and
grandchildren participated in, cheering them on and supporting them
in any and every way she could.
She was also always eager and willing
to babysit or take the grandkids on special trips with her. She was a
wonderful woman who was the matriarch of our family and will be
greatly missed by many in the community as well as her family and
friends.
Ida is survived by her husband, Donald
F. "Skip" Rogers; their two sons, Donald W. and Tammy
Rogers of Newton and Steven F. Rogers of Dallas, Texas; and two
daughters, Karen Rogers of Topeka, and Cindy and Doug Croft of
Newton; three sisters, Gladys Trouslot of Sedgwick, Mildred Quigley
of San Diego, California, and Glenda and Toney Orr of Bartlesville,
Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Stephanie Rogers and partner Brandalyn
McCarter of Newton, Amanda (Croft) Saltmarsh of Newton, Erin Croft
and partner Andrea Diaz of Newton and Shawna Rogers of Amherst,
Wisconsin; and great-children Bryce and Kyle Banks and Makenzi
Saltmarsh of Newton.
Ida was preceded in death by her mother
and father, as well as three brothers and two sisters.
The viewing will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Thursday (May 12, 2016) at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with
family receiving from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10
a.m. Friday (May 13, 2016) at First Presbyterian Church, Newton, with
Pastor Larry Sadowski presiding.
Contributions in memory of Ida may be
made to the Newton Fire/EMS Equipment Fund.
